This year has brought a record number of drug shortages including crucial drugs for cancer, infections, and other life-threatening conditions. Having access to information about drug shortages is the best way for health care providers to learn the extent of the problem, find alternate agents, and make an effective plan.
As a pharmacy student, I saw first hand the drug shortage crisis and identified a need for health care providers to have access to information on their mobile devices. Since its launch it has been downloaded thousands of times and is used in many major hospitals around the country.
RxShortages is an open-source cross-platform mobile application designed to help health care providers access information about drug shortages quickly and easily.
